Philippa Graff was born in Johannesburg, in 1959.  She studied Fine Art at Michaelis School of Fine Art in 1983 and majored in painting.  In 1983 she exhibited works on paper, on a group exhibition at the Association of Art in Cape Town.  She became an Art Teacher from 1984, and worked at various schools in Johannesburg. She ran art lessons for children from her home. Philippa was a founder member of the Johannesburg Studio Route and opened her studio to the public between 1990 and 1992. She currently lives in Johannesburg, gives weekly art classes to adults and devotes her time to painting.  Philippa is married to David Kotzen and they have three children.
